Michael Colwill - Co-Founder & Director

A mechanical engineer by trade and expert in building specification, procurement and contracting, who has run his own successful business for many years.

Mike's background as an engineer gave him an early opportunity to run a franchise for a large mechanical business - a unique chance to direct an entity with central support and guidance. This experience of management inspired him to start up his own construction company which delivers fully project managed refurbishments achieving notoriety in the second home market around Salcombe, Devon. The resulting insight into running and dramatically growing a new business is sought-after expertise which Mike brings to our clients. He has also worked in a construction specification and procurement role for a FTSE250 so has invaluable experience with multi-million pound new build schemes as well. From a skills perspective, Mike prides himself in having an entrepreneurial mindset and is unrivalled in delivering detail at pace. In his spare time he can be found tending to his chickens or walking with his family and dogs on the Quantock Hills.

James Sprake - Co-Founder & Director

A law graduate and fully qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply, who has held senior roles in a FTSE250 business.

James' exposure to the commercial world started young as his parents ran a small business from their family home which he was heavily involved in. Since then - having worked in the events industry, manufacturing, higher education (public sector) and the world of property - his breadth of business experience, in organisations large and small, is significant. A true procurement guru, James has run sourcing processes for almost anything you can think of - from IT systems to furniture (and a particularly memorable £0.5m microscope) so you can rely on him for impactful supply chain solutions. One key attribute James can bring to your business is the ability to rapidly solve problems with innovative ideas - we bet you will be surprised with what he comes up with (in a good way...). When not working on a commercial deal or elbow deep in a complex contract James is a keen mountainbiker and dinghy sailor.

What can you expect from James? Summarising complex scenarios into workable principles and plans; translating legal jargon into relatable content; maintaining positive, collaborative and beneficial relationships with all parties even during tough discussions.
